Há mais de 25 anos que ensina disciplinas de teoria dos circuitos, teoria dos sinais, processamento de sinal, processamento de fala aos cursos de Engenharia Eletrotécnica, Engenharia Informática e Engenharia Aeroespacial. Desde 2009 tem também lecionado cursos de empreendedorismo e transferência de tecnologia. De 1985 a 2000 foi investigador do INESC e é agora membro do Laboratório de Sistemas de Língua Falada do [http://www.inesc-id.pt/ INESC-ID]. As suas teses de Mestrado e de Doutoramento foram na área do processamento da fala e, em particular, em síntese e produção de fala. Em 1991, foi coautor do primeiro sintetizador de fala para Português Europeu. Entre 1991 e 1993 trabalhou nos AT&amp;amp;T Bell Laboratories, em Murray Hill NJ, na modelação e análise do fluxo glotal e a sua aplicação à síntese de fala.
