Alberto Abad obtained the Telecommunication Engineering degree on 2002 from Technical University of Catalonia [1] (UPC). Between 2002 and 2006 he has been a PhD student at the TALP Research Centre [2] of the Department of Signal Theory and Communications [3] of the Technical University of Catalonia, where he was supported by a Catalan Government grant. His Thesis was related with multi-microphone approaches to speech processing in smart-room environments.
At UPC he has participated in several European and National Spanish projects. He has also been lecturer of a laboratory course about signal processing applications in the Telecommunication Engineering School of Barcelona during the academic years 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, and collaborating lecturer in the doctorate course of the Department of Signal Theory and Communications "Speech and Language Technology and Applications".
He is currently a researcher in the Spoken Language Systems Lab (L2F) of INESC-ID. His current research interests include among others automatic speech recognition for telephone based applications, multimodal audio-visual applications, and audio, acoustic and sound research.
